Shortly after the launch of TropicNow.com.au and Tropic Magazine in mid-2016, our team recognised a gap in the local events and food scene of Cairns: the city had never hosted a food truck festival. Working with our contacts and clients in restaurants, cafes and music, we launched Meet Eat Repeat in November 2016, featuring a range of pop-up food stalls, live music and good vibes. Tropic Studio designed the logo, marketed the event across social media, PR and Tropic platforms, and managed the event from start to finish, including the selection of vendors and music acts, venue liaison, and logistics.
Since that inaugural event, Meet Eat Repeat has grown in a massive way, with nine events being held over the past three years. The biggest Meet Eat Repeat was staged in June 2019. In partnership with Cairns Regional Council, Meet Eat Repeat was a key element of the hugely successful Cairns Performing Arts Centre Open Day, which attracted over 5000 people.
